Affectionately called "The Pound" by regulars and loyalists -- of which there are hundreds -- this neighborhood institution (with no cover charge) is the quintessential gay bar for camaraderie and conversation. The windowless space is dark and sparse, save for a long, narrow bar and a few pool tables and arcade games, but the bar stools are never empty. At night, the joint hops with a DJ spinning mostly rock in the adjacent room, complete with a large dance floor. There's not an ounce of food served here, and no frou-frou cocktails either: expect pitchers of Miller High Life, Jack and Coke, and lots of Stoli shots. |
